FREMONT LIBRARY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The seventh annual Fremont Library Golf Tournament will be held on Monday September 10, 2007 at Apple Hill Golf Course in East Kingston.  It is a scramble format with an 8:00 am shot gun start.  Fees include green fees, golf cart and a great lunch provided by Fremont Pizzeria Restaurant, this years major sponsor.

This is a fun way to enjoy some camaraderie with fellow Fremonters.  If you own a business in town, it is a great way to let people know about it by sponsoring a hole or a cart.  Registration forms will be available in the Library, Glen’s Auto, the Town Hall, and Village market or by calling John Hennelly at 770 4144 or 6423162.  Also call John for fees and other information.

FRIENDS RECEIVE HUMANITIES GRANT

The Friends of the Library are happy to announce we have received a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council. The program we are sponsoring together with the council is entitled “Better than a Poke in the Eye”. NH humorist Rebecca Rule will be our presenter. For those not familiar with her work she delivers Yankee humor in a way that will tickle your funny bone. Rebecca is a story teller who engages her audience in a delightful way. She is enormously popular in NH and we are so excited she has agreed to come to Fremont.

The date of the event is Tuesday October 16, 2007 at 7:00 pm.  It is free of charge and will be held in the Community Room of the Library.  If you have any questions please contact Barbara Niland at 895-4801.

Don't forget that the Library now has downloadable audio books!  More information regarding this is available at the Library or call us at 895-9543.

Hope to see you soon!

WELCOME TO
FREMONT LIBRARY!

Borrowing Policies (revised 2/07)

- All adult materials marked “NEW” are due in one week.  They may NOT be renewed.

- Patrons are limited to taking 2 “NEW” items at a time.

- All other materials are due in two weeks. They may be renewed in person or by phone.

- There is no limit placed on children’s titles.  However, if a particular research topic is required at school, nonfiction titles may be limited to 2 per patron or in-library usage.

- After the due date, if an item is not renewed by phone or in person, it is considered OVERDUE.

- At this point, patrons will be notified of the delinquency by phone.

- Any patron in possession of overdue material will not be allowed to borrow any additional items until the overdue material has been returned.

- A written notification will be made if there is no response within two weeks.

- Approximately, four weeks after the due date, the patron will be sent a bill by certified mail. This notice will announce suspension of all library privileges until all materials are returned to the library or the list price of such materials, plus a processing fee of $10.00, has been paid.  This letter will include a copy of the pertinent RSA regarding overdue library materials.

- Failure to respond to this letter may result in the patron’s name and pertinent information being forwarded to the Fremont Police, informing them that the patron is in possession of materials belonging to the Fremont Library and has not responded to requests for their return.  They will then assist the Library in applying for a complaint against the patron in Rockingham County Court pursuant to RSA 202-A:25.

- Patrons who are chronically late in returning items may be put on a ONE BOOK status for 3 – 6 months at the discretion of the Library Director.

- There is a drop box for after-hour returns.

Books on Reserve

If there is a high demand for a particular book, a “Wait List” will be developed.  A patron will have one week to pick up the book before the book goes to the next person on the list.

Inter-Library Loan

If a copy of a particular book is not within the Library’s collection, Staff are willing to search among other libraries in order to obtain a copy of a book.  This process can take up to two weeks. These books will be held at the Front Desk for one week before being returned to the lending Library.

Out-of-Town Patrons

There is a yearly fee of $35.00

Children

 - Library Staff views service to children as an important part of their job.  Children who wish to use the Library for study, research, and attending programs are greatly encouraged to do so.  However, parents  need to remember that the Library is a public building open to any and all individuals. The Library Staff cannot supervise children in the Library nor can they monitor whether children are leaving the Library with a parent, guardian, relative, friend or stranger.  Parents are expected to be aware of the Library’s hours and to make arrangements to meet or transport their children.  If the Library is closing and a child is unattended, the Library Staff will assist the child in calling home to arrange transportation.  If the child is not picked up within 15 minutes of closing, the police will be called to take responsibility of the child.  While in the Library, children are expected to adhere to the same rules of behavior as adults. A child who is not using the Library appropriately, or who requires excessive staff attention may be asked to leave the Library after proper warning.

NO CHILD UNDER THE AGE  OF 10 IS TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED.

Story Times are offered throughout the year.  They run for six weeks within each season. Notices are posted in the Library and in the local paper.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

We have Public Access Computers with Internet capability.

- We require patrons to sign a standard computer/internet use policy form before they use the computers for the first time.

- Patrons under18 years of age need to have a parent come to the front desk to sign their forms, prior to using the computer for the first time.

- Each time a patron wishes to use the computers, he needs to put his name on the sign-up sheet and leave his library card at the front desk.

- Due to the high cost of ink, we charge 10 cents per page for printing.  There is no color printing available.

 - If there are other people waiting to use the computers, patrons will be limited to 30 minutes at a time.

We also have an OPAC (Online Public Access Computer) which is to be used only for searching the Library’s catalog.

We have Copy, and Fax machines for public use at minimal cost.

Donations of Books in Good Condition, except for textbooks and encyclopedias, are accepted.

There are tax donation forms if needed.

We also have  Tax Forms as tax time approaches.

Thank you for adhering to these policies.

Please be advised that as of February 1, 2007, some of our policies have been revised and updated. Please ask at the Front Desk for a copy of this latest Policy Sheet when you visit the Library.
