REYCLING TIPS:
DID YOU KNOW...
1. The reason for removing caps from bottles before putting in your recycling container is for two reasons (1) they are not necessarily a #1 or #2 plastic, and (2) bottles may explode during the recycling process; creating a hazardous work environment.
2. Waste Management will not take corrugated cardboard that is bigger than 2' x 2' -- please cut down large pieces to properly fit in the recycling truck. Pleas also tie or bundle large amounts of cardboard.
3. Your outgrown clothes can be worn by somebody else? There are Planet Aid bins, located at the Town Hall and Safety Complex, and a yellow “Public Clothing Drop Bin” on Route 107 near Action Auto. Or visit http://freecycle.org - a non profit, grassroots movement of people who give away items for free to interested individuals in their surrounding communities...."it's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills." 4. Your leaves and grass clippings can be brought to Seacoast Farms Compost located on the dirt side of Shirkin Road (off of Beede Road) Monday - Friday 7am-3pm and Sat. 9-noon by appointment (please call owner Bob Kelly at 396-4108.)
5. The lifting arm to empty your Waste Management rolling cart needs 5' on either side of the container to wrap around it. Please put your recycling bin on the opposite side of your driveway.....not next to your green cart.
6. The Fremont Post Office has recycling bins under every counter, so that you can sort your mail and recycle all your junk mail right at the Post Office? Please take advantage of this, the heavy catalogs are much better recycled to save on tipping fees!
TRASH & RECYCLING
Waste Management TOTER Information and Delivery / Recycling Information Flyer # 2
Waste Management TOTER Informational Flyer # 1
The TOTER system was implemented on July 1, 2008. Each household receives one 64 gallon cart in which all of your trash must be placed.
TRASH LEFT IN ANY OTHER CONTAINER OR BAG WILL NOT BE COLLECTED.
If you need an additional recycling bin, please come by the Town Hall during open hours to pick one up. You can also use a plastic tote, laundry bin, or other container for recyclables. All items should be bagged inside the cart to avoid blowing and spreading trash.
One of the goals of the cart system is to encourage more recycling, so pick up another copy of the recycling information, download it form the website, or call the Selectmen’s Office and we will mail you one.
Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation as we work through these changes.

Other local companies also rent dumpsters. Consider Best Way and Haul Away, both located in Brentwood.
BULKY DAY
Fall 2009 Saturday October 17th Volunteers needed!
|
AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
America Recycles Day is held annually on November 15th. This is a nationwide event whose purpose is to encourage Americans to step up their recycling efforts and buy recycled content products. We should practice recycling every day!
To learn more, visit www.americarecyclesday.org. Recycling is good for the environment and for the protection and preservation of our natural resources.
RECYCLING REMINDER
Remember to put your trash and your recycling out every week. Saving either up for any period of time affects the collection and the route. Please do both, every week!
Fremont holds bulky drop-off days twice per year.
We always need volunteers! To express interest or get your name on our Bulky Day volunteer list, send an email to Heidi at FremontTA@comcast.net.
