MOTOR VEHICLE RENEWALS
Due to Federal Identity Theft Laws, State Privacy Laws and New Hampshire law, you MUST provide the Clerk’s office with the current registration(s) when renewing a vehicle(s), in order to obtain new decals and new registration. For each registration not presented at the time of renewal the state will assess a $12.50 fee per registration.
MARRIAGE LICENSES
Any couple wishing to be married in New Hampshire must obtain a marriage license from a New Hampshire Town Clerk. Regardless of which town you reside in or in which town the ceremony will take place, you may obtain a license from any Town Clerk.
Effective July 4, 2006 a New Hampshire marriage license is valid for ninety days from the date the intent is filed and the three-day waiting period no longer applies. This is in accordance with House Bill 1487.
The Town Clerk’s Office has the ability to issue certified copies of Divorce records. The date range for these records is from 1990 to within 6 months from the present date the request is being made. The cost for a certified copy is $12.00. As a reminder, the Clerk’s Office can also provide certified copies of Birth records from 1988 until present, Death records from 1990 until present, and Marriage records from 1989 until present.

DOG LICENSES OVERDUE
Dog Licenses are now OVERDUE. Beginning June 1, a $1.00 penalty per month will be added to the normal licensing fees. Any dog remaining unlicensed as of July 1, will be assessed a civil forfeiture fee of $25.00 per dog in accordance with RSA 466:13 in addition to the $1.00 per month penalty and the normal license fees.

June 3, 2008 is the last day for voters already registered to vote to change your party affiliation before the September Primary. The Supervisor’s of the Checklist will be available from 7-7:30 pm at the Fremont Library.
June 3 – 13, 2008 is the filing period for anyone wishing to declare as a candidate for State Office. Candidates for State Representative or State Delegate must file with the Town Clerk, for all other offices, you must file with the Secretary of State.

The Town Clerk’s Office does not publicly support / promote any candidate whose name appears on the ballot nor supports / promotes articles placed on the ballot.
ABSENTEE VOTING ELIGIBILITY
657:1 Absence, Religious Observance, and Disability Absentee Voting. – Any person who is absent on the day of any state election from the city, town, or unincorporated place in which he or she is registered to vote or who cannot appear in public on any election day because of his or her observance of a religious commitment or who is unable to vote there in person by reason of physical disability may vote at such elections as provided in this chapter. A person who is unable to appear at any time during polling hours at his or her polling place because an employment obligation requires the person to remain physically at work or to be in transit to or from work from the time the polls open until after the time the polls close shall be considered absent for purposes of this chapter.

SUPERVISOR OF CHECKLIST SESSIONS
The Supervisors of the Checklist will meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Fremont Public Library, 7 Jackie Bernier Drive in Fremont NH. Sessions will be held from 7:00 to 7:30 pm for updates, additions, and corrections to Fremont's Voter Checklist.

DOG LICENSE REMINDER
The 2008 dog license tags are available. A current rabies vaccination is required for licensing and the Clerk’s office is required to retain a copy of the vaccination certificate. Please be sure to license your dog(s) by April 30th to prevent the initiation of a late penalty of $1.00 per month. If you no longer have a dog(s) please contact our office so we can remove your name from the list. As required by RSA 466:1, all dogs must be licensed each year by April 30th. For your convenience, we can mail your license(s) for a small additional fee of $1.00 per dog.
The Town Clerk’s office has received approval to now issue farm tractor plates, agricultural plates and farm plates.

TOWN CLERK UPDATES
MAIL – IN PROGRAM - The “mail – in” program consists of the Clerk’s office mailing out a renewal notice to your home approximately 2 weeks prior to the month your renewal is due. You have the option of renewing your vehicle registration(s) by mail or in person. If you are renewing by mail, we ask that you please read and follow the directions carefully printed on the renewal notice. All registrations are processed promptly and returned to you within 3 business days. Please note that we cannot process registrations before the beginning of your renewal month. The only exception is if you will be out of town the entire month your renewal is due. If you have any questions please feel free to call the office at 895 8693.
BOAT REGISTRATIONS - The Town Clerk’s Office processes boat registrations. Whether it is a renewal or a new boat, with the correct paperwork, the registration and decals can be obtained from the Town Clerk's Office.
Dog Licenses
In accordance with RSA 466:1 every owner or keeper of a dog 4 months old or over shall obtain a license from the clerk of the city or town in which the dog is kept by April 30 of each year. Failing to license or renew the dog license will subject you to a $25 forfeiture fine in accordance with RSA 466:3. Regardless of when the dog is acquired, the owner or keeper MUST obtain a license. In order to license your dog, you must have a current rabies certificate indicating when the rabies vaccination will expire. For your convenience and a nominal a $1.00 mailing fee per license, you can obtain a dog license by mail. Send a copy of your dog’s current rabies certificate and a check made payable to the Town of Fremont, using the fee scale below.

ATTENTION NEW RESIDENTS
Residents new to the town of Fremont, needing to register his/her car for the first time, MUST provide the Clerk’s office with the following documents:
1. When moving from another NH town, you will need your current NH registration and a utility bill (i.e.: electric, phone, cable, or an oil or gas receipt) with your name and Fremont address on it. If you are living with someone and do not have any utilities in your name, you MUST get a notarized letter from the person(s) you are residing with verifying that you are residing at that address.
2. When moving from another state, you will need your current out–of–state registration, a utility bill or notarized letter (see above), title to vehicle (if applicable and no lien holder), if there is a lien holder the name & address of lien holder is required so the Clerk’s office can properly prepare the necessary paperwork. The owner of the vehicle MUST appear in person, as his/her signature is required on documents. The only exception is if the owner assigns Power of Attorney to an individual to sign all documents on his/her behalf.
