The State of New Hampshire requires that all dogs be licensed after the age of 4 months, and licenses must be renewed by April 30th of each year. RSA 466:1 states that any owner or keeper of a dog(s) who fails to license their dog(s) according to the RSA shall forfeit $30.00 (civil forfeiture) per dog to the municipality where the dog is kept.

To Apply For a New Dog License

A current rabies certificate is required. First time licensing must be done in person.

To Renew Your Dog’s License

Rabies certificate must be current and on file with the Clerk’s office. If you prefer to renew your license by mail, you must send:

  1. The appropriate fees (see below) – Please make check payable to Town of Fremont 
  2. Self –addressed stamped envelope
  3. Copy of current rabies certificate
  4. Must add a $1.00 convenience fee per dog to the check
  5. Mail to: Fremont Town Clerk, PO Box 120, Fremont, NH 03044-0120

Puppy (7 months and under)$7.50
Adult Dog (spayed/neutered)$7.50
Adult Dog (unaltered)$10.00
Senior Citizen 65 & Over (1st dog ONLY per household)$2.00

Penalties

After April 30th, a penalty of $1.00 per month is added. If you fail to register your dog by June 1st, you will be subject to a $30.00 civil forfeiture per dog that will be issued by the Fremont Police Department.
