New Residents

New Residents to the Town of Fremont MUST provide:

  • Proof of residency – a utility bill w/ name and Fremont address printed on bill.
  • If residing with someone – a notarized letter from them stating you are residing with them and a piece of mail with your name & Fremont address printed on envelope.

As a new Resident, if your current out-of-state registration is EXPIRED or expiring within 20 days from the date you come to register your motor vehicle, you may be eligible for a 60-Day Temporary registration and plate. You will need to provide the following information:

  • Proof of Residence (see above)
  • The date of birth and address of any co-owners (all owners of vehicle must appear in person)
  • Your out-of-state registration
  • The current mileage on your vehicle
  • The name AND mailing address of your lien holder (if applicable)

The Town of Fremont will prepare the NH Title Application, your registration permit and collect the Town of Fremont registration permit fees. You will then take the information provided to any of the State of NH DMV substations where you will pay your State of NH registration fee and Title fee and receive a 60-Day Temporary plate. Once the title has been swapped between the lien holder and State, they will mail you a set of metal NH plates and a regular registration.

Renewals

Renewals - Moving to Fremont from another NH community

  • Proof of residency -a utility bill w/ name and Fremont address printed on bill.
  • Current vehicle registration (owner must appear in person – first time registering in town)

Changing Your Out-of-State Registered Vehicle to New Hampshire

For vehicles 15 years or older you need to bring

  • Proof of Residence (see above)
  • The date of birth and address of any co-owners 
  • Your current out-of-state registration
  • The current mileage on your vehicle
  • Either your out-of-state Title or a NH VIN Verification (form 19A), which can be obtained at any State MV substation or City/Town Hall.

For vehicles 15 years or newer you need to bring

  • Proof of Residence (see above)
  • The date of birth and address of any co-owners (all owners of vehicle must appear in person)
  • Your current out-of-state registration
  • Your out-of-state Title
  • The current mileage on your vehicle
  • The name AND mailing address of your lien holder (if applicable)

Reminder: If you have just moved to NH you have 60 days to apply for a NH Driver’s License by NH State Law (RSA 263:35)

** Please Note: We mail “Courtesy Renewal Notices” at the beginning of each month to Fremont residents whose vehicles are due for renewal the upcoming month and were registered in Fremont the previous year. You may renew your vehicle by mail OR online if you use this “Motor Vehicle Renewal Notice.”

Your previous NH registration or the Town of Fremont Courtesy Renewal Notice must be presented at the time of renewal.

Early Registrations: Registrations may now be renewed anytime during the 4 months prior to expiration without verifying owner’s absence from the State. RSA 261:62, ll (d) amended 6/18/07

Transferring a Registration

You MUST provide the Current unexpired registration for the old vehicle and the paperwork from the dealer/seller for the new vehicle.
