Credits & Exemptions

Veterans Credits

Standard Veteran (RSA 72:28) or All Veteran (72:28-b) credits are $750 yearly.  Every resident of NH who is a Veteran as defined in RSA 21:50 and served not less than 90 days on active service in the armed forces and continues to serve or honorably discharged; or the spouse or surviving spouse of such resident. (Under Honorable Conditions' does not qualify)

Service-Connected Total Disability (72:35) credit is $4,000 yearly.  Criteria is as above for standard and all veteran's as well as being service-connected disabled per the Veteran's Administration. 

How to Apply

Applicants must fill out the State Form PA-29 and submit it with a qualifying documents (such as Military Form DD-214). Submit original form and proper documentation to the Select Board's Office no later than April 15th in the tax year applied.

If your property is in a trust, you must also complete State Form PA-33 and submit it with your application.

You can also pick up hard copies of the forms at the Select Board's Office.

Elderly and Disabled Exemptions

There are income and asset thresholds to qualify for our elderly (over age 65) and disabled (younger than 65 but disabled via Social Security Administration) exemptions.  Single cannot earn more than $40,000 yearly and married cannot earn more than $60,000 yearly.  A copy of your latest Income Tax return will need to be submitted in order to verify your income. Assets cannot be in excess of $50,000.

How to Apply

Applicants must fill out the State Form PA-29, PA-30 (if property is in a trust) along with the Town Exemption Application and submit these with all qualifying documents. Submit original form and proper documentation to the Select Board's Office no later than April 15th in the tax year applied.

If you have already been approved for a credit or exemption, you do not need to reapply.

The law does require that we verify information every five years to comply with the NH certification process. At least once every five years you will be asked to recertify and provide updated information. You must respond to these requests in order to maintain your exemption or credit status.
