LONGEVITY POLICY
TOWN OF FREMONT NH
I. INTRODUCTION
The Town of Fremont is committed to recognizing the service of our employees. In the interest of retaining quality employees and the institutional knowledge they possess, the Board of Selectmen adopts a Longevity Pay Plan consistent with the Plan adopted in 2017 by the Fremont Police Department.
II. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Policy is to implement systems and procedures to reward longevity service to the Town of Fremont.
III. POLICY
This Policy will reward length of service for permanent Town of Fremont employees who work at full-time (40 hours) year-round. The compensation is based on years of service to the Town. Any employee with the following service levels shall be awarded:
Years of Service Award
5 to 10 $500
11 to 15 $1,000
16 to 20 $1,500
Over 20 $2,000
The one time stipend will be paid annually following the employee’s anniversary date.
An employee who works part-time at least 20 hours or more a week on a permanent basis shall be compensated at 50% of the full time employee’s allotment.
IV. ELIGIBILITY
Effective January 1, 2018, part-time, hourly, permanent employees who have successfully completed their probationary periods, and work year round to the levels specified, and have been employed by the Town continuously for at least five years, are eligible for the Longevity Stipend. Elected officials, seasonal employees and temporary employees are not eligible.
Eligible part-time employees shall be calculated based on their average work week for the preceding 52 week period (ie: prior fiscal year). For budget planning purposes, this will be adjusted annually at July 1 looking back the prior 52 weeks).
V. ADMINISTRATION
The Board of Selectmen is responsible for the administration, revision, interpretation, and application of this Policy.
VI. AMENDMENTS
This Policy may, from time to time, be amended by a majority vote of the Board of Selectmen at a regularly scheduled Board meeting.
VII. EFFECTIVE DATE
This Policy shall be effective January 1, 2018.
