Vital Records & Genealogy

The Office of the Town Clerk maintains the official record for all births and deaths occurring in the town and of all marriage licenses issued in the town. The Town of Fremont also maintains the records of most divorces occurring since 1990.

Under New Hampshire statutory requirements and applicable administrative rules, certain older records are open to the public while other, more recent records are only available when the applicant has a "direct and tangible interest" in the record. The records open to the public are as follows:

  • Birth Records - Prior to 1910
  • Death Records - Prior to 1948
  • Marriage Records - Prior to 1948
  • Divorce Records - Prior to 1948

Individuals wishing to research these "genealogical" records may do so by visiting the "Genealogical Research Center," in the State Offices at 71 South Fruit Street, Concord, NH.

NHVRIN is the vital records registration and issuance software that was developed for the Secretary of State's Division of Vital Records Administration (DVRA).

DVRA is the state resource for individuals and agencies wishing to obtain vital records data and copies of birth, marriage, civil union, divorce, civil union dissolution, and death certificates. We also have a genealogical research vault that is open to the public containing records that date back to the year 1640. The NHVRIN application provides ALL 234 local City and Town Clerks the ability to access a limited state-wide database of Vital Records consisting of:

  • Birth Records: 1983 until present
  • Death Records: 1990 until present
  • Marriage Records: 1989 until present
  • Divorce Records: 1990 to within 6 months from the present search date
  • Civil Unions: 2008 and 2009
  • Civil Union Dissolutions: 2008 to within 6 months from the present search date
