Climate Vulnerability Assessment

In 2025, the Conservation Commission, with the leadership of Chair Ellen Douglas, submitted for and received a $25,000 grant from the Piscataqua Region Environmental Planning Assessment (PREPA) 2025-2026 Grant program for the Rockingham Planning Commission’s (RPC) to develop a Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Action Plan for the Town of Fremont. This collaborative Conservation Commission and RPC project represents a critical next step in our ongoing efforts to protect the town’s natural resources, safeguard drinking water quality, and enhance resilience to climate-related threats.

This project will provide Fremont with the necessary tools and data to make informed decisions that protect our residents, infrastructure, and natural resources. By assessing vulnerabilities and planning for future conditions, the town will be better positioned to secure funding for infrastructure improvements, adapt local policies, and implement targeted climate resilience strategies. Additionally, this initiative will foster increased public awareness and engagement, ensuring that residents and local leaders have the knowledge and resources to take meaningful action in response to climate impacts.

Please see the PREPA grant application for details about this initiative. The Conservation Commission is fully committed to working closely with the Rockingham Planning Commission to ensure its successful implementation.
